What it Means to be Presbyterian

As Presbyterians, we are part of the Reformed tradition in the larger body of Christ, the Church.  We are a PCUSA congregation.

We have our roots in Switzerland and Scotland.  Our government is a representative system of elected officers (elders and deacons).  We are a church that values that God, as Creator of the world, loves the world and all who are in it.  We believe that God is sovereign over all creation and that human beings are made in God's image, but we fail to be faithful to God.  We believe that God sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, to be God's salvation to the world through his life, death and resurrection.

Presbyterians believe that the Holy Spirit is the presence and work of the living God here and now in our individual lives, in the church, and in the world.  We know that the Holy Spirit, from the pages of the Bible, breathed God's word.  Presbyterians believe that through the Spirit, each person has received God-given talents to serve God and this world (the priesthood of all believers).  As Presbyterians, we are called by God to serve God and our neighbor, and to share the good news of Jesus Christ in all of life.
