Local Mission and Outreach
The ministries of Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church are primarily coordinated by the church's deacons, and are a visible expression of God's love , and an extension of God's love into the world.
Peace Cafe - We continue to serve a warm meal to our hungry neighbors on Thursday Nights. Many outside groups come to volunteer but hosts from our congregation are still needed. The first and second Thursdays are when we really need help. Contact Dan Johnson about adding your name to the list of servants.
"Pack-A-Snack" - Please help feed hungry children! Did you know that 24% of the children in Pinellas County are “food insecure”? Did you know that 91.7% of the students at Belleair Elementary are on free reduced lunch? It costs approximately $4 per sack to feed a child each weekend or $128 for one school year. Based on the number of sacks last year (3,785 sacks), the projected cost to feed the same number of children during the 2014-2015 school year will be $9,120. If we have sufficient funding we hope to serve even more children. Please make a donation to Pack-A-Snack. Any amount will be greatly appreciated.
RCS Food Bank - partnership to keep food on the shelves of our local food bank
Cold Night Shelter - Peace Memorial opens the Cold Night Shelter between November 15 and March 15 when the temperature drops below 40 degrees. The decision to open is made by Pinellas County. In 2014 we were open 5 nights. Volunteers are needed for all shifts: 5pm to 8pm (Dinner is served), 8pm to 11pm, 11pm to 5am, and 5am to 8am. Contact Sue Ellis to volunteer at 727.742.2550
